The new music theatre (Musiktheater am Volksgarten) in Linz was opened on 11-04-2013. I was fortunate to have a look inside before that.
What I saw is documented on your right. The building is designed by Terry Pawson Architecture. It has one main stage with a maximum of 1.130 seats, a so called “studio stage” with max. 250 seats, which is completely black and a rehearsal/concert stage with max. 200 seats which is made from a golden relief-cladding.
What I especially liked was the material experience of gold and wood. Unfortunately I was not able to listen to any performances, so my eyes did most of experiencing during my stay.
The executive planning as well as the interior design was realised by the offices ArchitekturConsult/archinauten. The execution of the interior fitout of the 3 halls has mainly been done by the Lindner Group.
